Home and School Association
Each school family is automatically a member of the St. Henry Home & School Association. Dues, as outlined in the school addendum to the contract, are collected to carry out the many responsibilities and goals of the organization. Families that have difficulty paying the entire amount on or before the first day of the school year may contact the treasurer of the organization to arrange a payment schedule and/or even a reduction, depending on the circumstances.
The mission of the St. Henry Home & School Association (HASA) is as follows:
- To coordinate the spiritual and educational forces of the home and school in a program of Catholic child training
- To offer informational or social events of particular interest to parents or families
- To encourage maintenance of high standards of family life
- To create greater appreciation of Catholic education
- To express appreciation for and support of the efforts of the school faculty and staff on behalf of the school's educational mission
The board generally meets once per month during the school year. Besides four executive officers, there is a parent representative for every grade. Obviously, parents need to take on these volunteer roles. All school parents who attend a meeting are voting members at that meeting, whether or not they are officers or representatives. Because parent participation is so important, even attendance at a meeting can be used as a way to earn service hours.
